Qatar once was known as the Pearl Capitol of the World, but since the oil bust it no longer holds that title. However, the "Pearl Monument" remains as a reminder of the importance pearls once played in Qatar's economy. It is a beautiful fountain, created as a giant-sized pearl oyster with a single pearl inside. Enjoy!

"New" Pearl Necklace Design Found at Gun Show--Now Its Ours!

A few days before Christmas, my husband helped me sell FunPearls.com jewelry at a local gun show. The idea was to help all those hundreds of men find gorgeous, affordable, last-minute Christmas gifts for the special women in their lives. (You know, while they looked for gun clips they could check out our "ear" clips.) While many sweet guys did purchase lovely jewelry from us, the majority of our sales that day came from the women attendees. Some were long-time pearl show fans; others, kinda bored females who sought out anything NOT gun related. It was such s successful experience that we will once again set up shop at another gun show later this spring in San Antonio; stay tuned.

Another related story....One of the women at the gun show was selling jewelry. One piece, kind of a vintage item, caught my eye. It was a woven faux pearl necklace that looked like a large DNA chain of sorts; a design that caught my eye as well as my heart. I HAD to have it, even though it was made with fake pearls and cost $20. Well, I sent off a few photos to one of my pearl partner design shops, and in 2 days he had created the exact same piece using REAL pearls in off-round OR round shape. Last weekend I flew from my home in San Antonio to Cincinnati, Ohio (my hometown) to visit my family AND for a very special sales event. My sister Christy is a FunPearls.com rep in that city, and was invited to sell our pearls at a holiday Open House sponsored by stationery store Sisters Ink [www.sisters-ink.com] in the suburb of Wyoming. Well, was that ever fun! Exciting news! Today a story about FunPearls.com was featured prominently in the July 24 edition of the North Central News (a weekly newspaper distributed in North San Antonio via the daily San Antonio Express News). Entitled "Pearls is a fun side business for North Central PR specialist," this 1,000+ word piece it was written by Contributing Writer Barbara Stewart and Editor Edmon Ortiz.
